Five aspirants will battle it out for the right to represent the 4th Legislative District of Cavite in the special polls set to on Aug. 29.
In a statement, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday reported that the last to file her certificate of candidacy was Dasmariñas City Mayor Jennifer Barzaga, mother of expelled Rep. Francisco Barzaga.
The other candidates running for the congressional seat are Raul Rex Del Rosario Mangubat, Marvin Opamin Dupal-ag, Leysander Aguilar Ordenes and Jacinto Bautista Frani Jr.
The poll body said the election period for the special election will be from July 30 to Sept. 13.
During this period, the Comelec said it shall be prohibited to carry or transport firearms or other deadly weapons in public places, even if licensed to own or carry them, unless authorized by the poll body.
The gun ban shall only be implemented in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
Meanwhile, the campaign period shall be from July 30 to Aug. 27. (PNA)
