House of Representatives lawmakers will consider inputs shared by stakeholders in this city following the final leg of public consultations on the proposed Anti-Political Dynasty Law.

Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Adiong, chair of the Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms, said the consultations will allow the public to comment on the measure before a final draft is passed.

“This is already in our Constitution. This is not targeted on anyone, specific families. Electoral reform is an important discourse,” Adiong said in a briefing Friday.

A total of 24 anti-political dynasty bills have been filed in Congress, including House Bill 6771 by Speaker Faustino Dy and Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos.

A separate public consultation for the Senate version was also held in the city on Thursday, led by Senators Francis Pangilinan and Risa Hontiveros.

The proposed constitutional limitation on political dynasties aims to prevent the concentration of political power among a few families, promoting broader representation and electoral competitiveness.

Adiong emphasized that the measure, once passed, would apply universally and not target specific individuals or families. (PNA)
