The Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Baguio said it will distribute this week the honoraria of the 1,448 electoral board members, Department of Education supervising officer (DESO), and assistant and technical persons, who served during last week’s polls this week.

“We will start to withdraw the money which amount cannot be done by one branch due to the total,” lawyer John Paul Martin, city election officer, said in a media interview on Monday.

He said the payroll for the electoral board is already being prepared, even as the Comelec verifies with the DESO the actual number of persons who reported on election day.

“We have to be very careful that we give to the eligible worker who actually reported on election day,” he added.

Martin said they are looking into the availability of Department of Education (DepEd) facilities for the distribution venue.

“We will do it at the same time so that it will be done immediately,” he said.

The chairman of the electoral board will receive PHP12,000; the poll clerk and third member, PHP11,000; and the electoral board support staff; PHP8,000.

The amount includes the PHP2,000 travel allowance of each member; PHP5,000 communication allowance; and PHP500 meal allowance subject to 15 percent tax, for a total of PHP42 million.

The DepEd election workers are also entitled to 10 days of service credit from the department.

Meanwhile, Martin said they will soon start to prepare for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE).

He said that based on the calendar provided by the Comelec headquarters, the registration of voters for the BSKE will be from July 1 to 11. (PNA)
