The Department of Health (DOH) is keen on expanding vaccination coverage in the Davao Region as it kicked off Monday its nationwide Bakunahang Bayan Part 2 here.<\/p>\n
In a media interview, Dr. Annabelle Yumang, DOH-Region 11 director, described the Bakunahang Bayan Part 2 as “a great opportunity” for the public to increase not only the region’s vaccine coverage but the whole country as well.<\/p>\n
“The local government units and other sectors of the government here in Davao Region continuously work for the benefit of the people,” she said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Dr. Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire, the DOH officer-in-charge who personally visited the city, said she wanted to emphasize the thrust of Bakunahang Bayan as it would help the public fight coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).<\/p>\n
The three-day Bakunahang Bayan aims to reach the national goals for vaccination and booster coverage in the country by making primary series and booster doses more accessible through the settings-based approach with the vaccination rollout focusing on service delivery close to homes, communities and workplaces.<\/p>\n
“We know that vaccination is still the best defense against Covid-19,” Vergeire said.<\/p>\n
Vergeire visited the Tomas Claudio Health Center and witnessed the vaccination process at the venue.<\/p>\n
She also checked the DOH-11 office if it has an ample supply of vaccines.<\/p>\n
Vergeire also thanked the DOH-11 personnel for their efforts in the fulfillment of the Universal Health Care (UHC) program.<\/p>\n
